Pro Basketball Referee – What It Takes…

What It Takes To Be A High Level Pro Basketball Referee

“Winning is not a sometime thing. Winning is an all the time thing. You don’t win once in a while. You don’t do the right thing once in a while. You do the right thing all of the time. Winning is a habit, unfortunately so is losing.”

-Vince Lombardi

Pro Basketball Referee– If you’ve ever been involved with any sport since Lombardi first made that quote about 45 years ago, you’ve no doubt heard it before. There is a reason for that: because it’s true. Winning and losing are both habits, and you already know how difficult it can be to cultivate good habits and how easily bad ones can sneak up on you.Basketball Referee

To be a pro basketball referee on the professional level requires you to cultivate good habits that will lead to the habit of winning. Officiating games as a Pro Basketball Referee also requires the habits of success. You too, have a dream to make come true and a career and life to build. Therefore, it is crucial that you cultivate the habit of effectiveness and success patterns through one very simple gift that you have been given: self-discipline. This is vital to being a Pro Basketball Referee.

Note that I said that self-discipline was simple. I did not say that it was easy. Simple and easy have two very different meanings. Simple means that something is easy to understand, easy means that you don’t have to put much effort into something. Nobody really wants the easy road. That is the path of least resistance and it only cultivates the habit of losing. However, everybody does want a simple way, finding a way that is easy to understand so that they can get themselves fired up at the beginning of each day to cultivate their winning habits and get closer to their pro basketball referee goal.

Self-discipline is extremely difficult if not nearly impossible to cultivate by oneself. That is why players need coaches, why new soldiers need drill instructors, and employees need bosses. As much as we may want something, the human body and mind, with all of its frailties, will resist having to do anything to earn it unless we give ourselves coaches and mentors, even if your aspirations are as high as becoming a pro basketball referee.
